The comprehensive cost-consequences analysis is subcontracted to Dr Paul McCrone at the Centre for the Economics of Mental Health, which is part of the Health Services Research Department at the Institute of Psychiatry (King’s College, University of London).
The Centre for the Economics of Mental Health (CEMH) conducts economic research, policy analysis and consultancy across the mental health field. Established at the Institute of Psychiatry in 1993, CEMH staff have undertaken more than 100 research and related studies in the UK, Europe and elsewhere, spanning all the main treatment modes, user groups and diagnoses in mental health. It is collaborating in mental health care evaluative projects in 20 countries worldwide. CEMH is involved in: designing, conducting and analysing high quality economic research; evaluations of new or best practice in mental health care; generating and disseminating new and alternative insights into mental health policy, practice and research; promoting the use of rigorous evaluation techniques and the development of appropriate research tools; teaching and training in mental health economics.
Dr Paul McCrone is currently Senior Lecturer in Health Economics (CEMH), and an expert in research in scoping study of the use of health economic methods to evaluate services for posttraumatic stress disorder and other areas.
